Bread, Soccer, and Cleaning Checks

So, what do these three things (Bread, Soccer and Cleaning) have in common you might ask? Absolutely nothing. Ok, let's start with bread. I, whom am a genius I might add, made my first real loaf of bread on Sunday. I am tired of buying bread and wanted some homemade bread and since Sister Emery can't fly-- let me rephrase that, won't fly-- 3000 miles to make me some bread, I decided to do it myself. If you look at the picture you can see how very large they were. I don't remember them being quite that large when she would make it. But I guess I just put in more love than she usually does. ;)

Soccer. Well, some of you may have seen on Joe and Julie's blog about the Real Salt Lake game they got cheap tickets for. So last night we went. We were worried it would be rainy (since it was raining all day in Provo at least) but it was not even wet there. It was a pretty fun game. We won 2-0. Joe and Julie left 3 minutes before the game ended and just as they got outside of the gate we scored our second goal. It was a cool one too. I don't know how to explain it other than they put it in the net. Sorry. But it was really fun. Joe got a couple cool pictures of us all I think on his camera so check his blog soon for those.
Ah, the stressful time of cleaning checks. So, Tuesday was the horrible day of tests, papers, and cleaning checks. We have heard only HORROR stories from Shelby when she lived here in spring. She told us about how they MADE her stand one foot on the toilet, the other on the bathtub and watched her as she cleaned the ceiling! ....!!!!!! What. The. Heck. So, Allison and I who did not feel like getting charged $30 for failing, cleaned for HOURS upon HOURS! I started at 5 pm and finished around 11 I think. I did have FHE during that but that was only for an hour. So it was like 4 or 5 hours of cleaning people. FOUR OR FIVE HOURSSSS!!!!! Do you even know what this week has been like? It is Mid-term week for me. Self explanatory. So the fact that I even spent that much time cleaning is amazing in and of itself. Anyway, our neighbors came over and were saying how we don't need to clean that much and blah blah blah. And I was getting kind of annoyed because first of all, why would you make fun of someone for being clean????? Does that make sense to anyone else??? And all of you know how clean and tidy I am. Mom tells that story all the time of how before I went to bed in elementary school I would get everything ready for the next day: making my lunch, laying my clothes out that I was going to wear. Even putting each sock in one shoe. (ok, that was a little strange). But I am just a neat and tidy person. I don't like living in a mess. So the fact that people were criticizing me for being clean really just set me off. So, then I come home today from class and find this note on our door: TAKE THAT! . . . [Punch the air] . . . BOO-YA-KA-SHAAA! [Hard-core break dancing is happening right now to the song "I Gotta Feeling"]

So, we won a free pizza from a local place that has pretty good food. But most importantly, we won Respect. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. And a valuable lesson was learned: If you make fun of Kimmy Meyers, you better be ready for God's vengeance. BAAHAHAHA!

  1. Kimmy, congratulations on your cleaning check award. That is really cool that you won a free pizza. We don't have incentives like that at Alta, although they do give us some cleaning supplies and regularly check our vacuums for maintenance or just a new bag which is a perk.

Your bread was good and I thought the Real Salt Lake game was fun too.

  2. Some clean checks are ridiculous! Three days before Jordan and i were to be married we were moving out of our places and moving into out new place. We had the stress of moving, finals, graduation and hello marriage. Jordan was in finals so my parents sister and I did his clean check. They are STRICT. Jordan semi cleaned his job. Then I cleaned it and my mom went over it. They Man said it wasnt good enough. My mom and I cleaned it again and had to do it again after that! Crazy people.....I think I am clean and my mom is tooo!!! some stuff cant be fixed!!! thanks for letting me vent!

  3. Kimmy, my favorite post yet! Very funny stuff. Here's what I think:
    1) I'm proud you are such a clean person.
    2) Your bread is huge! I've made the recipe before but mine weren't that big. You must have had super powered yeast.
    3) Soccer gamed looked like so much fun!
    4) I miss you.
    5) I love you, too.
    Later!

  4. You need to turn them the OTHER way on the baking sheet, and when you form the loaves, make them longer and skinnier! I bet it tasted great, though!
