"My Favorite Things"

Some of the things that I love/appreciate/am thankful for etc.:

DISCLAIMER: THIS MAY BE ONLY FUNNY TO ME. BUT I WANT TO REMEMBER IT SO I AM POSTING IT HERE ANYWAY. k, now you may proceed.

  1. The Smell of The Home Depot- a bit strange, yes, but Christy and I were in Home Depot today seeing how much she got for her gift card from College Game Day (Which was only $1...sad day) and a plethora of smells overcame me when I walked in: wood, flowers, electronics, cologne... It is hard to describe, but if you want to find out for yourself, just take a quick stop in Home Depot next time you're by one. You will NOT be disappointed!
  2. Meteor Showers. I saw my first meteor shower/shooting star on Monday night. It. Was. AWESOME! Also, the other day there was a Meteor flash of light. It was HUGE, and lit up the entire sky like it was the middle of the day. People saw it in Nevada and California too I think. You have to watch this video. It's amazing!
  3. My Anthropology teacher, Dr. Crandall. He is probably one of the most misunderstood men I have ever met. Most people think that class is boring. I, on the other hand, find great joy every Monday and Wednesday when I sit on the 5th row and just watch and listen to his strange but funny things he says. One thing I cannot convey on here is how he talks. It is unlike anyone I have ever met. He has an accent that I am pretty sure he fakes. I have never heard anything like it. It's not like British, but sort of like how a proper person should speak... ??? I don't know how to explain it, maybe one day I will TRY to do an impression for you. But I have tried many times and still can't get it right. Anyway, here are some examples of funny things I remember him saying:
  • Once he was talking about childbirth among the Bushmen in the Kalahari Desert and he asked the class: "Has anyone here ever given childbirth? [No answer]. No? Well! Pleasant things await you. (BBBAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!)

  • The Monday after Halloween, I was waiting for class to start, Dr. Crandall was talking to this guy sitting in front of me. He asked, "Were you a good boy on Halloween?" This kid was like 19 and he's asking if he was a good boy, he was talking to him like he was talking to a 6 year old.

  • Ohh yes, this is a good one. Ok so one day a week or 2 ago he was talking about something boring probably, I can't remember. But all of the sudden as he was in the middle of his lecture, some kid way in the back of the auditorium just burst out into a laughter of about 5 HA's. Like really loud! Like this HA HA HA HA HA! It was strange. So Dr. Crandall stops talking, looks out into the audience of students with this very strange look on his face. He didn't say anything for about 15 seconds which is a long time when you're in a lecture. Then says, "What was THAT?" He then waited for a couple more seconds and said, "He must be watching a movie on his laptop." (HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I am literally LAUGHING OUT LOUD RIGHT NOW!!!)

  • About a month ago the TA's started doing iclicker quizzes in class. So the first quiz we took only about 55% of the people got the answer right. So Dr. Crandall looks at the results and says, "About 55% of you are lying, Ha Ha Ha! (he laughs very proper, its so funny). 25% of you are stupid." (bahahahahaha! that was one of the first funny things he I remember him saying. After that, I knew I liked this man.)

  • About a week ago, we were taking another iclicker quiz. He read the question and answer choices out loud and then said, "Well the answer is obvious" (of course it is to him!) Then he waited for people to click in to the quiz and while he was standing there up on stage, bored, he turns to the girl in the front row and said, "What are you eating?" (She answers too soft for us to hear, but he was wearing his microphone and so he was loud.) He says, "A banana? Good for you!" in this proud tone. It was so funny, I just sat there by myself and laughed for a long time.

Ohhh what a funny man! So that is Dr. Crandall. There have been more funny things, well pretty much every day he says something funny. Oh, unrelated to Dr. Crandall, but this lady was subbing for my stats class. She was Asian so she had a bit of an accent. She was talking about getting rats to do experiments and she said, "I know it hurts, but we need the animals for science." BBBAAHAHAHAHAHA!!! that one I laughed till I cried! SO funny! So there are a few things. I will post more things I love/ am thankful for this next week since it is Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving you people!

All The Live Long Day

I just can't stop thinking about snowboarding...

That is all that is going through my head at the moment, and all I have to blog about.

(April of this year. It snowed a ton the day before finals. I took advantage of an opportune moment. Ohhh boy, that was fun)
