Dear Self, Happy Birthday

It would not make any sense to just announce my birthday on my blog so I am wishing myself a happy birthday.

Kimmy: Hey, isn't today your birthday?

Self: Why yes, yes it is.

Kimmy: Oh wow! Happy Birthday!

Self: Thankssss (blushing)

Kimmy: What are you going to do?

Self: I don't know, I think I am going to skip my classes and go see my favorite niece, Sadie.

Kimmy: That is the best birthday plan I have ever heard.

Self: I know, I am excited to chase her around, march for hours, make animal noises, play hide and seek, act like a hooligan and get laughed at the entire time. Perfect birthday.

Darn ALL ski lifts!

I like to think I am a well coordinated person. Ski lifts try to make me look like a fool however.
I think I have gotten hurt more snowboarding than I have doing any of the other ridiculous shenanigans I'm ever up to. Last year I got a GINORMOUS bruise that was about thissssssssssssss big. ;) All I was doing was standing in LINE for the ski lift. Key Word: SKI LIFT. It was the nastiest black and blue bruise for about 3 weeks. Priceless.

Last Saturday Alison, Gabby, Makia, and I (that was for you mom) went night skiing. Probably not a good idea to have the four of US on the ski lift together, given my history. As we approached the "steep" lift I warned them. Which might have scared them but that's not my fault. I was simply trying to inform. Neither was it my fault when Gabby pushed Makia who fell into me and stuck me with her ski pole and threw my head back on the ice. Of course Alison was out of the way because she is like a deer on the slopes, prancing all about. We were in a tangled mess. I wish we had a picture of video of the event. I bet all of Sundance wished they had that video. I've never heard so many people laugh so hard at ME ( and them) in my life. I was a little out of it though so maybe it was not even that loud I just thought it was. It was all kind of a blur now. I think I got whiplash because my neck was pretty sore the next day. I thought I was better by today. Boy was I mistaken...

Today I was trying a new trick. Bad idea. I fell again. Felt like my brain had an earthquake in my head. Which reminds me, I need some Advil...

Snowboarding

Christy and I went snowboarding last night. Actually, we went night boarding at Sundance. It was really fun to be back on the old snowboard again :) Although, I must say I was a little rusty. And, like always, getting off the lift was the scariest part. Christy and I have a hard time with it. I dread it EVERY TIME! But it all worked out. We only fell over a few times. My muscles were actually not very sore last night and not at all today. It must be that dang hill that I walk up multiple times a day... all 151 stairs.

I think the funniest/scariest (even scary than the lift) part of the night was the Maverick run. It slopes down into a big bowl shape and then you have to keep your speed to go back up the bowl to another little hill. I have great trouble with this part and really try to avoid it, but after that hill is one of my favorite parts. So as I usually barely make it up because I am scared of speed, I tried really hard to go fast. Lets just say I succeeded. That was probably the fastest I have ever gone on a snowboard. And I never want to go that fast again. I couldn't slow down because I knew if I caught an edge I was done for. So I just PRAYED I would stay on the board. No Joke. I honestly was sending a desperate prayer to heaven pleading to not fall or die. I think it might have even been out loud... ok it was out loud. But it worked. Anyway as soon as I got up to the top, I stopped right away and just contemplated my near death experience. I am glad to say I survived and am here today. You all must feel very lucky.
